My Story
Madison Laidlaw | designer and illustrator
I have always had the luxury of knowing what I want, a wonderful gift I like to think comes from my mom. I wanted to be a graphic designer before I knew that was even a job.
It all started when I was about 10. Waking from a dream about a toilet paper commercial, I realized what I wanted to do when I grew-up. 10 year old me was a little wrong, I don’t think I will ever want shoot a commercial. But, looking back I think what put stars in my little eyes was the pure awesomeness of creating something from an idea. In fact, it astounds me to this day that I have the very privilege of practicing my creativity everyday. With my sights set high, I have always had the support of my family, whose influence literally oozes into my work.
Hay.mo.mad is the manifestation of the creativity I have fostered for countless years. If you have siblings you may be familiar with the name combining powers your parents have when they call you the wrong name. Well more often than not, my mom would utter, “Hay…Mo..Mad!” to get my attention, trying to cover her stumbling tracks.
I draw from everyone in my family, those from birth and the one I grew and married into. But understandably, I get the most from what my sister Hailey likes to call the OG; Gregory, Amy, Morgan, Hailey and Madison Laidlaw. I get my silliness and joy from my dad, strength and determination from my mom, quick wit and killer sass from Hailey and unwavering kindness from Morgan.
The benefit of Hay.mo.mad is you get all of that in every piece of stationary, print and illustration. Hay.mo.mad takes community and packages it into small shareables to pass along to your given or chosen family.
